Behind the painting
18 years before I moved to Paris in 1994, my elderly cousin Gray Nicholson took me with her on a tour of France where I fell in love with the country and beyond (more on this story in the artist bio and the post “It Really is a Small World“). This painting is derived from a reference photo I took in the fishing port of Sète on the Mediterranean coast in Southeast France, starting my art affair with the country.
